How does the international use of a currency affect an economy?

The Rio & Leeds Building Research Interest across Developed and Growing Economies (BRIDGE) Seminars were created to foster the connection between two academic centres that are recognized for advancing a pluralist view of economics: the Institute of Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IE-UFRJ) and the Economics Department of the Leeds University Business School (LUBS). The encounters will constitute opportunities for members of these two universities to discuss current issues of global relevance, in a collaborative manner catered towards identifying areas of common concern across the north-south divide.

Seminars will take place on the first Friday of every month, from May to October, via virtual platform. Each session will feature one question that the invited discussants will approach, first with short presentations and then with open conversations. The schedule will also feature a session for post-graduate researchers who are interested in presenting their works in front of this diverse audience and obtain their valuable feedback.

Events will be open to professors, staff and post-graduate students from UFRJ and LUBS, all of whom are invited to participate and contribute with the discussions.
