“Despite numerous advances in research published in recent years, benznidazole (Bzn) and nifurtimox (Nfx) remain the only available drugs for the treatment of disease (the latter is no longer authorized in Brazil). Many side effects and therapeutic deficiencies of these drugs are still justifying the urgent need to continue with the research for the discovery of novel therapeutic alternatives.”
